Screen flickers in 720p mode
hie,
I have Hitachi Plasma and an Xbox360 with high definition component cable. My Xbox is switched to 720p mode and in this mode the screen is flickering like anything. I am hardly able to view anything out of this flickering screen. How can I solve this?.......plz help
Re: Screen flickers in 720p mode
I think you must switch your Xbox 360 from 720p mode to 1080i mode because you will find that Hitachi prefers an interlaced signal which is there in 1080i ("i" for interlaced).
Re: Screen flickers in 720p mode
720p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes.
'720' - stands for the 720 horizontal scan lines of display resolution (as 720 pixels of vertical resolution),
'p' - stands for progressive scan or non-interlaced.
However, 720p features the highest temporal (motion) resolution when broadcast at 60 frames per second and also progressive scanning prevents flicker by filtering out fine details, but for Hitachi, I'll say 1080i is superior to 720p.
Re: Screen flickers in 720p mode
Since 1080i has more scan lines than 720p, they do not translate directly into greater vertical resolution.
The interlaced video is usually blurred vertically (filtered) to prevent twitter. (Twitter is a flickering of fine horizontal lines in a scene, lines that are so fine that they only occur on a single scan line).
As only half the scanlines are drawn per field, fine horizontal lines may be missing entirely from one of the fields, causing them to flicker.
Images are blurred vertically to ensure that no detail is only one scan line in height. Therefore, 1080i material does not deliver 1080 scan lines of vertical resolution.
However 1080i provides a 1920-pixel horizontal resolution, greater than 720p's 1280 resolution.
