So far I used with XP and Vista scanner Canon CanoScan D1250U2 with ScanGear ToolBox software as it is with Windows 7 it is recognized, but I can not use it, error message: Unable to load TWAIN server (it is not recognized either by Photoshop).
Has anybody an idea about the problem?
Maybe an incompatibility with Windows 7

In fact I can not help but reassure you because I have the same problem and same message with a canoscan lide 25.
I can not help you for yours but I have an all in one Canon MP210 and it works very well.
For the scan, I scan MP Navigator EX 1.0 and everything is correct.
Copy twain_32.dll form build 7000 or 7022 into "c:\windows" .
Canon scanner will work. Hope this helps you .
