What is ClarkConnect?

ClarkConnect is a Linux distribution. The purpose of ClarkConnect is to transform any standard PC into a dedicated firewall and Internet server/gateway. The design of the operating system is derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with optional modules for firewall and LAN servers. ClarkConnect is based on Linux 2.6, modular design, automatic updates and commercial support. Advanced Packaging Tool is used to handle RPM packages.

Known Issues
- By default, no features are installed on this beta! You will need to choose which features to install via the web-based interface.
- The IP settings for the LAN interface specified in the installer might be overwritten at boot time (something to do with the hardware detection tool overwriting the network configuration file).
- Samba initialization is fragile, but should be working.
- IPsec VPN might not work in some cases.
- FTP Flexshares do not work on custom groups (only the users group).
- Starting the Cups print server may hang webconfig.
- Remote backup is not working (the remote side is a work in progress).
- You will find the web interface to be slow in some places.
