Re: Resize an NTFS partition
Resize an NTFS partition
Start your PC to the Knoppix CD.
Type: knoppix lang = en
Open the console:
and type: - Select the disk (eg / dev / hda, which is the first IDE hard disk)
- We see our NTFS partition (/ dev/hda1). Right-click it, "Resize / Move"
- Enter the new size of your partition (as you wish) and click on "Resize".
- Then click the "Apply" button.
- It will ask for confirmation.
NOTE: After clicking, it will start operations on hard disk. It would be especially more interrupt after clicking "Apply."
Click "Apply" to start editing.
The operations are underway.
It is very important especially not to interrupt the program during this operation, the risk of losing data.
Upon completion, KDE will detect this "new" partition and ask you what to do. Just choose "Do nothing", tick the box and click "Ok".GParted us that everything is completed without problems ( "All operations completed successfully")You can see our partition (/ dev/hda1) with its new size (500 MB).
Finished!
You have successfully resized your NTFS partition.
For security, the next time you start Windows, a check disk (chkdsk) will be applied automatically. Let it unfold.
Note: The expansion and reduction of several Giga-bytes of an NTFS partition has been done successfully with this method (Windows XP ).
