External Hard Drive Help SQP

I really need your help on this one . I have an external hard drive Sqp Express Star 250GB, I used on my Mac to back up my data. But then, I just got rid of my Mac (Macbook fairly recent), to return to my Pc, and hard drive is not recognized automatically on it!

So I (with the help of the manual), create a partition for this disk (G), and there I have a message that asks me to format the external hard drive, otherwise it can not be used!

So my question: Is there formatting result in the loss of all data stored on it? Because if so, I can not format it because the data I have stored above are critical to me .

Yes if you format it erases all data on hard disk .
If I understood you want to read the hard drive on a PC with Windows, whereas before you read on your MAC, right?

Yes exactly that is quite that. Everything on it was put through my old Mac. So I have to get all the data that were above via my PC now ... And this is my problem

I have no experience with MAC.
But what format the hard drive on MAC (NTFS, FAT32, FAT ...)?

Hoping that you happen to resolve your problem

format I do not know too actually,,,But I think I'll be forced to retrieve a friend's Mac to transfer ...

If anyone has another solution (CDs, software), thank you for help. I have talked about including Live CD ... Someone could tell me more about this?
