hi,
I have a big problem with avast. i have downloaded Avast 1weak agobut after installing that my messenger stop responding so i decided to reinstall it, i removed it from add remove program but after restart it was in self defense mode. I cannot delete or reinstall it now.Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to fix it?Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Reinstall Avast from control panel,if still it is not possible then use the aswclear utility,but you have to reboot your system in to safe mode then run this aswclear utility.can you give us some more information about your system.
it is possible to use avast without having aswClear disabled the system.This can be done in the "Program Settings", "Troubleshooting" section - check option "Disable self-defense module of avast!". If the program settings are not available, it is still possible to uninstall avast! by aswClear in Safe Mode of Windows, or system of self-protection is disabled by default.
How to uninstall Avast using aswClear.exe:
Download aswClear.exe on your desktop
Disable the self avast.
Run the downloaded.
If you installed avast in a different folder than the default will go find it in your disk with the button "...". (Note: Be careful! The contents of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
Click Uninstall.
Restart your computer.
