How to install Xubuntu on old machine with minimum configuration
I just installed the latest Xubuntu in graphics, alternate version on the slow machine I have (desktop Intel Celeron 400Mhz, 32-bit RAM) but it took 16Hrs to install the updates. And not all were not installed. When I rebooted the machine to apply changes that only opens firefox, and a blue screen behind machine do nothing.
Can you advice me how to install it properly ?
Thanks

Maybe there were errors at the installation, but it is not normally due to the fact that the installation was made graphic mode. Reinstall xubuntu from cd of the latest version available, this will avoid having too many updates.

Maybe you should start with a server install and then try to install xubuntu-desktop ("sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop") once you've got a basic command line and network stuff up and running. Xubuntu will install XFCE which is a much lighter desktop environment and may even give acceptable performance on your machine.
