Using Old license XP in New Laptop

Hello everyone,

I was A Having a Old pentium 4 Computer , With Orignal Windows Xp installed in it , From Last month my PC Keep crashing Regularly So I had to sold piece by piece. Later on This month i bought laptop without any operating system, in it And I was Just Thinking That Can I Use my old License Xp on this laptop , I just Have the Sticker With Cd-key Printed on it But i do not Have the Cd , can you tell me How Can i Get Xp On my This New system , Or will I have to purchase a New Version on xp , Please Help me Thanks in advance

However, the computer system can certainly be updated with new components without the requirement of a new software license. The only exception to this is the motherboard 1. If the motherboard is replaced 2, the computer system is deemed "new" and a new license would be required. Other PC components may be upgraded, including a hard drive.

Hello , Assuming that your copy of XP Professional is a retail copy (not OEM) and that it's a Full or Upgrade copy, there is no problem. Just do it. Worst case, you will be prompted to activate by voice call to an 800 number. But that's quick and easy.

Hello . XP can only be installed on one computer. (security crap) You wont be able to run XP on your new computer without calling Microsoft and getting a new Number (which might cost money) Assuming this is the "OEM" version of XP you would get at NewEgg or whatever, and not a bundled OEM like what comes with a Dell, if you change the motherboard but keep the same CPU, or vice versa, you should have no troubles activating. The trouble arises if you replace both the CPU and the motherboard or Purchase a New Laptop
