What could be the sample rate for 44KHz soundcard
Hey Guys,
I would like to know that what would be the amount required for RAM in order to store 4 seconds of stereo sound on a particular sound card with having 44KHz sample rate. It's having 16 bits. Can any body tell me that what would be the rate from the following list.
- 180 Kbytes
- 704 Kbytes
- 440 Kbytes
- 512 Kbytes
Does any body knows about it? Kindly suggest me your views on the above issue.
Thanks in advance

I think it would be 48kHz, because it is the part of the operating system with having standard multimedia in it.
Re: What could be the sample rate for 44KHz soundcard
This hardware is generally inexpensive and allows the recording of 16 bit mono/stereo signals with a sampling rate up to 44 kHz. Such high sampling rate is generally is not necessary for speech signals where most applications sampling rate 11 kHz is sufficient.
Re: What could be the sample rate for 44KHz soundcard
The PC is used to convert the VLF signal into an audible signal
- Soundcard runs at a sample rate of 44100 or 48000 Hz
- Frequency is converted down to an audio frequency of 650Hz (or similar)
- 650 Hz "Audio IF" is passed through a narrow-band filter (100Hz BW)
- The amplified audio is sent to the soundcard's D/A converter.
