Linux distribution for an old laptop
Hello,
I started in the world of linux. I want to convert an old laptop that is my given as a surfing, word processing, and why not media center on my tv. This is an HP Omnibook xe3 with a Pentium processor (I know not how) to 700mhz and 256 ram.
What distribution do you?
Re: Linux distribution for an old laptop
There are many choices, the Linux world can not of course be reduced to a single distribution (...), fortunately. Teste-in LiveCD mode (that is slower against) on a cd-rw for not wasting discs, it may be practical to assess all this.
Re: Linux distribution for an old laptop
live-CD linux Toutou:
RAM installed
its ability to save data in live-CD.
less than 100 Mb
in graphical mode as a win without command line.

Hey!
You can use any ubuntu's "Netbook remix version". these are specially made for netbooks and old laptops. You can also use Damn Small Linux [DSL] or many be Tiny core Linux. There are several options for you. Just research a while about all the distributions that choose the one that suits your need. All the best!
