Re: Need to clear previous searches in Outlook
For doing so you need to make some changes in registry. So make a back up every time before you make changes in registry. Once you are done,,
- Open the registry by going to Start > run > type regedit > Enter.
- Now locate the folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Your version\Outlook. Your version will be the version number of the currently installed version of Office. Here are some version numbers:
- Outlook 2003 11.0
- Outlook 2002 10.0
- Outlook 2000 9.0
- Outlook 98 8.5
- Outlook 97 8.0.
- Browse for the specific keys Select the value on the right side and delete it.Delete any "MRU" keys found in any Outlook folders.
- Close the registry and you are done.
Re: Need to clear previous searches in Outlook
You can try a freeware called OutlookTools. This tool allows you to configure a ton of settings very easily, including the ability to let you clear the MRU lists and to change settings that are normally only possible through the registry.
OutlookTools Features
- Clear the Most Recently Used lists
- Make the New Mail Alert stay up for longer than 30 seconds
- Unblock attachments
- Hides options not available for your Outlook version
- Easy access to Outlook settings and data folders
- Easy access to troubleshooting tools
- Start Outlook with a startup switch

I think it can be done easily by Go to "tools"..."Instant Search"..."Search Options"...and uncheck ..."Display search results
