what are .inx files?

Hi all,
I came across some file in My documents with .inx extension. What is inx file extension? Can i delete those files? Can anyone help me?

INX file is InDesign Interchange File. InDesign CS and CS2 feature the ability to export files in the “InDesign Interchange,” or INX format. An INX file is an XML file that completely describes a given InDesign document. All pages, margins, guides, page items, text frames, colors, and anything else you can have in an InDesign document are included in the INX file.

It is page layout file used in Adobe Adobe InDesign CS. InDesign CS2 files exported in the INX format can be opened by InDesign CS; all page content and formatting is recognized by InDesign CS except for features that are only available in InDesign CS2; Document exported by Adobe InDesign in XML format; completely describes an InDesign (.INDD) file, including pages, page content, text frames, colors, margins, guides, etc. You can delete this files.
Some of these features include footnotes, SING glyphlets, tracked changes, anchored objects, imported PSD files with layers, and object styles.
