Internet Explorer gets closed

Hi All!

I am having Internet Explorer 8 and suddenly gave a strange error, it got closed unexpectedly & then after a while i did tried again to open it but it opened for second or two & got closed immediately.

Can anyone HELP with this...??

When any of your browsers shuts down, does Windows display any error messages?
Is your virus check up to date?
Did you check for spywares using Spybot, and Adaware?
What will happen, if you change your home page to "blank"?
Try an anti-virus like Eset NOD32 or Kaspersky.

Have you looked in the events logs for additional clues?

Try a reboot first, this will kill any other instances of explorer running so it may fix the problem.
If that does not work try running it from the Start Menu.
If that does not work then try using the find/search from the start menu and run directly from the file.

Please tell us if you continue having problems. I don't really want to go to restore points if your problem is fixed.


Try starting in Safe Mode with Networking.

How to Start in Safemode

1. Restart your computer.
2. Before the windows logo you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode with Networking using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

See if you can get Online and just long enough to download FireFox, because in this mode you do not have any protection against threats.

If you cannot get online that way then use the PC that you have been posting on and copy FireFox file to CD and transfer it to you other PC.

Right click on internet explorer and then click on properties. After that click on the Advanced Tab and then under Browsing uncheck the following option : Enable third party browser extension.

If that does not work then try doing a system restore to a back date.

If none of the above works : Try Repairing Windows XP that will most probably solve your problem.
