Hey is there someone who knows the steps to use my Nokia N95 as a modem? I can only use connection via USB. I have tried to do this but it always says connection failed. Time through bluetooth certain as possible. I've tried looking at the settings option, "Configure the connection manually", but am unsure what to put there.
Install Nokia PC suite. Run the program. Connect to your phone. Click on "connect to the internet", Done ...
Go to settings -> access points -> media net -> view details.
Then chose to setup the connection manually in the Nokia Software on your PC/Laptop. Enter the options the phone has there. That worked for me.
I am not sure what you are saying here. You can use the N95 to connect to the wireless broadband and then connect your desktop or notebook via the USB cable. Thus using the N95 as a modem. Bluetooth may also work, but it will be too slow to keep up. You cannot use the N95 to connect to the wireless broadband and then use it as a router to transmit the signal via wifi to the other computers. Some WM6 phones can do this, but not on the Nokia's.
N95 to Ubuntu 8.10 and it worked perfectly. This is how it works:
- connect the phone and select PC suite on the phone
- Ubuntu discovered the phone and knew the model
- I clicked configure the phone
- Ubuntu found the country and operators
- I selected the operator
