GA-EX58-UD3R specification differs from actual
I am looking to buy GA-EX58-UD3R for mounting a i7 920. The specifications say it supports 3 channel, but I see it only has 4 slots for RAM. Can I take only 6GB if modules are of 2GB or can also be placed in the fourth slot another 2gb module? If so, continue to operate on channel 3 or already recognize as the Dual channel?
Re: GA-EX58-UD3R specification differs from actual
I understand what it does is:
1 modules: single channel
2 modules: dual channel
3 modules: triple channel
4 modules: dual channel
Surely this is a more basic model with the usual X58 chipset and therefore does not bring 6 slots for RAM, so if you buy that board soon to give it a thought how much more memory for you because if you buy a kit 3 modules then you will not be able to expand with another kit to keep the 3 modules triple channel.

Its Tri Channel, but with the Intel X58 board has 4 slots for memory. Sure, when you use the 4th slot, you'll lose the Tri Channel.
If your budget is tight I will recommend the Asus P6T ...

The specifications say it supports 3 channel and 16gb of Ram - 4 x 4GB modules. In principle you can put 4x2gb eg. in triple channel. It is a more advanced model. Much better performance with 3 bank to Ram + 1 for powering the PCI-E.
