Mac : Bootable USB from dmg image
Hey There!
There have been a questions for a long time on this one. A friend of mine works in the US and there people just use Macs. There they had a dmg image file of the new Mac OS which was available for updating all the computers. He asked me to help! This might help you too if you have a similar case... This can be done with a single command though complicated...
All you need :
- Apple Mac running computer
- Atleast 8GB Pendrive
- DMG image of the new OS
What to Do :
Once you have the DMG image on your Mac, All you need is to Mount it. This can be done simply by double clicking on it. Plug in your USB Stick. Open terminal and type :
Code:
sudo asr --restore --source /Volumes/MountedDMG-Disk --target /Volumes/USB-Stick --erase
Thats it...! Wait for terminal to complete the operation successfully. Boot from USB Stick and Install the new Apple Mac OS...! All the best...!
Re: Mac : Bootable USB from dmg image
Hey!
I have some dmg files. When I try to transfer the files to an external usb Hard disk the process hangs in the middle and it looks like there is no possibility to transfer the files to the external hard disk. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!
Re: Mac : Bootable USB from dmg image
Hey!
Well, What i gess is :
- The files may be in a form where they must occupy contiguous disk memory. Defragmenting the USB drive may fix this.
- The file may contain a code combination which is an escape sequence for USB.
- The format (as opposed to the file) of the hard disk
may have tangled links.
