Hotmail doesn't work with Outlook Express
Hey Everybody,
Recently i was trying to download a message from Hotmail account, but while trying to setup Outlook Express on my pc, it showed me an error message that it dose not support pop3 access on free Hotmail accounts. I can access my e-mail account easily but can't use outlook to view my messages. Can any body knows about this issue? Kindly help me out to get rid of the above problem. Any information on the above issue would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Re: Hotmail doesn't work with Outlook Express
Go to Outlook Express & click on tools, then accounts and then see mail tab. Click on the otmail account & then properties. Thats the way it should be. Also on account name, it should say Hotmail check "include this account when synchronizing".

Go to the Microsoft site, and look up outlook and hotmail. You will have to download a connector. I just did this last week. You will be able to use it after you connect them.

- If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, see below.
- Select Tools | Accounts from the menu in Outlook Express.
- Click Add and select Mail.
- Enter your name.
- Click Next.
- Enter your Windows Live Hotmail address ("hmmzl34@hotmail.com", for example).
- Click Next again.
- Make sure HTTP is selected under My incoming mail server is a __ server.
- Now, select Hotmail under My HTTP mail service provider is __.
- Click Next.
- Enter your Windows Live Hotmail address ("hmmzl34@hotmail.com", for example) under Account name:
- Type your Windows Live Hotmail password under Password.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Click Close to close the Outlook Express accounts window.
- Now, select Yes to download the Windows Live Hotmail folders list in Outlook Express.
