Re: 4870x2 Freezes in Infinite loop
Hello , If You Play Steam Games then From what I read online, it seems that STEAM updates are made quite regulary that break it, with regards to cedega, and cedega seems to be constantly updating itself to use STEAM each time STEAM updates. I think because of this I would be inclined to use the paid version of cedega so that cedega does all the work of keeping up with STEAM updates.
Re: 4870x2 Freezes in Infinite loop
Wow, didn't realize that some ATI cards have the same issue with fan speeds as some nVidia cards (like my EVGA 8800GT/SC). I use nTune to manually set my fan speed depending on how demanding the game is. Course, nTune won't work for you, Riva or ATI Tools will work just as well. There are a few games that I do have to crank it up to 100%. Yes, there is an updated BIOS for my card, but like you, I am wary of trying it. It is possible that the card has been damaged by heat already. If that's the case then it should be eligible for a warranty replacement, given that this is a known problem with the factory fan speeds.
