TI Firewire Card Driver Issue
I am trying to install Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller firewire card driver on Windows XP home with Service Pack 2. When this card was installed in windows xp, then it was automatically installed with all the drivers and I didnt get any seperate drivers cd with this card as well. But when I installed XP pro then the system is asking to insert a disc to install its driver. I tried to search for a driver and found a file called GIC 220U-ALi-33s-1-4-7.zip which extracted to EHCI_147.exe, and after I tried to install it then I got message that "Windows XP SP1 has USB 2.0 controller inbox driver. Do you want to install ALi usb 2.0 controller driver?" I dont know whether to install this on my machine or not, any ideas?
Re: TI Firewire Card Driver Issue
Can you try to go into Device Manager and then go the devices properties and then use the details tab and search for the "Device Instance ID", you will get some text string that will look like the below:
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3104&SUBSYS_31041849&REV_90\3&267A616A&0&84
Check you can find that string and then post it here, normally the VEN and DEV values are the most important ones.
Re: TI Firewire Card Driver Issue
Thank you for the help, I have found the strings for the device and posted it below which is for the multimedia controller, ie, the firewire card:
PCI\VEN_1131&DEV_7146&SUBSYS_00031809&REV_01\5&F334E6&0&3008F0
Re: TI Firewire Card Driver Issue
The ALi file that you have downloaded seems to be for an ALi based USB 2.0 controller and right now you are searching for the Firewire / iLink drivers. So, you should know that Firewire and USB are 2 different technologies.
Re: TI Firewire Card Driver Issue
It might be that the device must have some issues, so try to enable the FireWire port (IEEE 1394) in your BIOS settings and also make sure that the drivers are loaded perfectly. If you want the drivers to load automatically, then try to unstall the device from the Device Manager by right clikcing on the device and selecting the option to uinstall it and then restart the pc. After when the computer boots up then you will see that Windows will see a new hardware and if the device is working properly then the drivers will be reloaded without any problems.
