Hi,
i should be able to hear my sound from vista on my hdtv which is connected via a hdmi cable through the hdmi to dvi adapter provided with the card. so i am trying to get the audio through my 4870x2 to my tv. but when connected it to my TV samsung 32" LCD there was no sound coming through. and i have no other option for sound to this tv.
Is there anything special i need to do or load to get sound ?

Make sure you set the HDMI sound to the default sound device, right click the volume thing on task bar next to the time then go playback devices - if everything is installed correctly all your sound devices will be in there. Now right click digital output device (HDMI) and set as default (you can also choose to test it under right click too).
You must have an actual certified HDMI dongle for this to work. there are two versions two. Only one will work. I'm guessing yours came with your card? Try and get one from your card’s manufacture or E-bay seems to have a lot of them, the only thing is there is more than one revision of the dongle and only one will work with the 4000 series cards ( I believe it is the revB version). Hopes this helps.
In device manager, is there an entry for High Definition Audio Device in Sound video and game controllers? When you right click the speaker icon in the system tray and select playback devices is HDMI shown?
