Slow remote loading
Hello
I have a small network at home, with on the one hand a fixed PC, with a amd 2500+, 768Mb of RAM, and xp SP3; and in addition I have a portable - HP pavillion with 2Gb of RAM and Vista. I have a connection pf ADSL 8Mb, with a modem ADSL, and a router d-Link which map my connection on each pc.
Now Here is my problem:
The remote loading on my fixed PC is very slow and I reach a maximum with 180kb/sec, then some will say to me that it is not so slow, certainly… Whereas when that I download with the portable PC, I download with approximately 600kb/sec. I do not understand from where this differences comes. Can anyone help me out. Thank you

Re: Slow remote loading
1. Could be a router or hub that these two computers share between them and the FMS is going bad.
2. Could be they are both infected with the same virus.
3. Could be the "external data source" you refer to.
4. Could be the FMP client cache is to low to handle the type of data in this DB.
5. Operating System on these two may be too low a version or have too little resources to handle this database's data.
Resources: RAM, Processor speed, Version of Quicktime too old, FMP
plugins, PDF support software (old version, version unsupported by FMP)

Re: Slow remote loading
Are you logging on with the same user account as the person who is logged on? If not, the switch over takes a bit longer..
The next step is seeing what has been installed on the computer since it last worked properly... It is not unheard of for a security patch to cause such issues....

Re: Slow remote loading
It might be a firewall issue.
To change setting in Windows Firewall:
1. Please go to Start > Control Panel
2. Click "Windows Firewall"
3. Go to "Exceptions" tab
4. If you would like to use port 22. Click "Add Port"
5. Fill name "Port 22" and Port number "22"
6. Then, click "OK"
You might check to see that the computers that are the slower on the network, that the network devices in use are using 100MBS LAN speed.
