To disable low disk space checks in Vista
hie,
I have recently upgraded my operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista. My hard-drive is almost out of free space. Windows Vista warns with a little pop-up box. However, Vista's constant check for low drive space uses system resources which slows Windows down.
I wanna know how can I disable low disk space checks in Vista ?
thank you....
Re: To disable low disk space checks in Vista
In windows vista, you can follow the steps below to turnoff the low disk space checks -
Step - 1
Click on Start, type the following command in the search box, and then hit the Enter key.
regedit
This command will load the Registry Editor program.
Note: Changes to the registry are made in these steps. Take great care in making only the changes described below.
Step - 2
Locate the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder under Computer and click on the (+) sign next the folder name to expand the folder.
Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion registry key.
Select the Policies key under CurrentVersion.
Step - 3
From the Registry Editor menu, choose Edit, followed by New, followed finally by Key.
After the key is created beneath Policies, it will initially be named New Key #1.
Change the name of the key to Explorer by typing it exactly as shown and then hitting the Enter key.
Step - 4
With the new key, Explorer, still selected, choose Edit, followed by New, followed finally by DWORD (32-bit) Value.
After the DWORD is created beneath Explorer, it will initially be named New Value #1.
Change the name of the DWORD to NoLowDiskSpaceChecks by typing it exactly as shown and then hitting the Enter key.
Step - 5
Right-click on the new NoLowDiskSpaceChecks DWORD you just created and choose Modify.
In the Value data: field, replace the zero with the number 1.
Click OK and close Registry Editor.
Windows Vista will no longer warn you about low disk space on any of your hard drives.

Disable Low Disk Space Notification
This setting controls whether you receive a "Low Disk Space" warning when free disk space reaches less than 200 megabytes.
You can apply this tweak easily by using WinGuides Tweak Manager - Tweak Manager is the most powerful tweaking software for Windows with over 1000 essential and easy to perform tweaks!
- Open your registry and find or create the key below.
- Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "NoLowDiskSpaceChecks" and set it according to the value data below.
- Exit your registry; you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
Re: To disable low disk space checks in Vista
Windows Vista monitors the amount of available disk space and displays a warning in the taskbar when the hard disk is almost full.
To disable this feature, perform the following steps:

2- Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
3- Create a new DWORD value and name it "NoLowDiskSpaceChecks" (without quotes)
4- Double-click the new value, set it to 1, and click OK.
5- Log off and log back on for changes to take effect.
Re: To disable low disk space checks in Vista
A simple registry tweak can achieve that -
- From the Windows Start menu, select Run. In the Run box, type regedit and click OK.
- In the Registry Editor, locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- If you want to disable the low disk space check for all users, use this key instead:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- If it does not exist, create a new DWORD entry with the name: NoLowDiskSpaceChecks, and enter a 1 as the value.
- Close the Registry Editor. Select Exit from the File menu.
