Computer restarts with the Strange Hibernate Options
Ever since I got my PC I've hibernated it instead of shutting it down each time I am finished with it, but now it won't start up again! It goes into hibernation fine but when you switch it on again it restarts itself before returning to your desktop and says the previous boot attempt failed and gives me two options
- Delete restoration data and continue to windows boot
- Continue loading restoration data
Any ideas?
Re: Computer restarts with the Strange Hibernate Options
Ordinarily, NTLDR will check the header/signature of hiberfil.sys when the system begins the boot process in order to protect against a stale orphaned hiberfil.sys being booted. If a stale hiberfil.sys is detected, NTLDR will show a menu asking if you want to continue to resume or discard the hiberfil.sys and perform a full boot. You can create a file named resmany.dat (any size, any format) on the root of the boot partition (typically c drive to suppress this check and allow your device to resume without any user interaction.
