View Photos with People Faces In Picasa 3
In Picasa 3, you have a new function to display only photos with people. To do this, rather effectively Picasa detects faces in the pictures.
- Launch Picasa.
- In the photo, open the folder containing the photos to filter.
- In the toolbar Picasa, click on the filter to show only photos with faces.
- Only photos with faces are displayed.
- Click the Show All button to disable the filter and display all your photos.
Re: View Photos with People Faces In Picasa 3
Hello , Ok, when We were thinking about the face recognition algorithms it might be able to detect faces in an image and automate the drawing of the rectangles (at least as suggestions that the user could ignore or use). The next step would be to use face recognition to match up people in a new photo with faces already captured and labeled in previous ones, again with the user being able to accept the guessed identity or ignore it.
In addition (or separately from auto-detecting faces and/or auto- recognizing which face it is), it would also be possible to use a simple speech recognizer (either a small-vocabulary recognizer, or a template-matching algorithm, where the person says the name the first time they enter someone), so that the user could draw a rectangle and say the person's shortcut name, and then the name pops up. (The user could then edit it the picture with the keyboard if it guessed wrong). The idea here is to make it possible for someone to take hundreds or thousands of pictures and quickly identify who is in eachone--and where they are in the picture--in a "batch mode", so that it doesn't take forever. Then the names of people in the pictures is preserved for posterity. This would also be great for all those old family photos that someone may have scanned in.
