Hdd partition containing OS
I recently bought a 500 GB hdd on which I installed Windows XP with the CD. However, I forgot to partition my hdd before installing
My question is: Is it possible to partition my 500 GB hdd from the desktop without having to format and re install Windows XP?
Re: Hdd partition containing OS
Yes with partition magic. Search on TechArena for "Partition Magic", you will get lot of threads based on it.
Re: Hdd partition containing OS
You can download EASEUS Partition Master PRO Edition, this is equivalent to partition magic, and you can do your partitioning manipulation but backup your system before in case of problems.
Re: Hdd partition containing OS
You can also download the gparted iso on CD in image mode and you boot it, and the bottom you will find your happiness
Re: Hdd partition containing OS
Use Disk Management in Windows. No need for any fancy softwares.
Re: Hdd partition containing OS
With Disk Management simply, I dont think it is possible to create partition when the disk is already in use with OS installed in it. The HDD I am talking about is a 1 complete partition in which XP is installed. If I try to create partition on the same from Disk Management, I fear my OS will be deleted and crashed.

Nothing will happen to your OS. Just Do It!
