NLS data missing
Hello,
Yesterday after "unmasked" the administrator account on my Vista pro, everything was broken and it is impossible to restart. I get this error: "General Failure charger operating system 0xc000009". "NLS data missing". I don't have any idea about this. Can anyone help?
Thank you.

Re: NLS data missing
Restart the system and Press F8. There is an option to repair startup. You should be able to run a repair on the start up files without the requirement of the DVD.

Re: NLS data missing
If you have access to another Vista machine, use a USB stick and copy the nls files from that install to the one you cannot boot. You can do that using a Knoppix or similar linux live cd that can write to NTFS. Also copying them from another XP install fixed it and made it bootable.

Re: NLS data missing
Use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to run System Restore:
- Insert the Windows Vista installation disc into the disc drive, and
- then start the computer.
- Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD
- or DVD ยก*". appears.
- Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method,
- and then click Next.
- Click Repair your computer.
- In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your
- Windows installation and click Next
- At the System Recovery Options Dialog Box, click on System Restore.
- Follow the System Restore Wizard instruction as usual and choose the
- appropriate restore point.
- Click Finish to restore the system.
