Microsoft Office 2007 SP2 Leaked and Available for Download

According WindowsVistaMagazine, Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2007 would have escaped the hands of engineers and Redmond found for free download on the BitTorrent network.

While the installation of SP1 put Microsoft Office updated to version 12.0.6331.5000, the suite now pass 12.0.6416.1000. In addition to enhancing the security of software, file 287.14 MB bring several new features like support for Open Document Formats (ODF), XML and PDF. Other improvements announced for SP2 include better performance of Outlook on SSD memory, an optimization of the synchronization of calendar events, or support for plugins in Microsoft Word to read files in formats not compatible.

The second service pack for the Office 2007 System has slipped past the initial availability deadline announced by the Redmond company. At this point in time Microsoft has offered no information related to the progress done with the service pack. Although the software giant should have already released Office 2007 SP2 to manufacturing, Microsoft is mute on the progress of the development process.

According to the Office Service Pack team representative, the Office 2007 SP2 brings to the table:

· Improved Outlook Performance
· Enabling Object Model support for Charts in PowerPoint and Word
· Improved cryptographic functionality by supporting all cryptographic algorithms offered by the operating system

· Ability to ungroup SmartArt graphics (and as a result, the ability to add animations to them in PowerPoint)
· Ability for Visio to export UML models to an XML file compliant with the XMI standard
· Tool that enables the uninstall of Office client Service Packs

Office 2007 should take over the PDF in its first version, but Adobe has objected. Not the fault of Microsoft for this one so ...

The ODF format is a standardized format. This means among other things it is documented and everyone knows how it works. Now open office uses ODF by default, but it did not want to say that this format is to open office. An ODF file is much smaller in volume than a word (at least when using open office for the same content).
