Installation scanner epson V10 on Ubuntu

I have a scanner “epson V10 perfection” and I am under Ubuntu 8.10,
I followed the procedure filled out well the questionnaire and to the end but when I try to install the package
DEB. 32bit package
iscan_2.18.0-2_i386.deb

I have this error message (in red);
error: dependency is not satisfiable:: libltdl3

test libltdl7 in synaptic, it seems to me that it is its successor

Download from http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/libltdl3 and install on 8.10

I am under ubuntu 8.10 and I have also a Epson scanner.

The problem is that Ubuntu does not initialize the Epson scanner with starting.


My solution was to install VueScan which is a super software.

VueScan is not in the packages, it should be downloaded on Internet
at this address: http://www.hamrick.com/

I downloaded “vuescan” http://www.hamrick.com/ and the drivers iscan_2.18.0-2_i386.deb . Vuescan does not manage to detect my scanner.
