Remote Desktop Connection no longer works
Hello,
I just realize that I can not connect to a server (windows server 2008) my local network with remote desktop connection from my post on Vista. It worked very well until now but now I get the message:
Quote:
The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server client access licenses available for this computer.
Please contact the server administrator.
Any idea on the problem?
Thank you!
Re: Remote Desktop Connection no longer works
Cause
The license server might not have any remaining Per Device CALs to issue.
Solution
- Use Terminal Server Licensing to Verify that the license server has a sufficient number of CALs for clients requiring remote connections.
- If the license server does not have a sufficient number of permanent CALs, Purchase CALs as needed, and then Install CALs automatically, as needed.
Re: Remote Desktop Connection no longer works
The last logins to the server were not exited from TS correctly.
- Go to the server and open Terminal Services Manager in Administrative Tools.
- Right click on the sessions under your server and click disconnect and or reset.
- Make sure they are cleared. Once they are you can again connect with the client.
- To avoid this re occurring log off with terminal services do not just close the window. You can also configure the server by opening Terminal Server Configuration. Highlight Connections. On the right side you will see RDP-Tcp. Right click on it and go to sessions. Set it to the settings that suit you. Remember a disconnected session and an idle session are two different things.
Re: Remote Desktop Connection no longer works
This is a bummer, especially if you are the server administrator.
At this point you still can use the mstsc /admin /v:myserver command to reconnect and dispose idle sessions to resume normal operation. Or try VNC.
