NIIT University begins first academic session from September

NIIT University — the not-for-profit institution of IT education provider NIIT Ltd, will start its first academic session in September this year.

The university would offer PhD programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Educational Technology and Bioinformatics and Biotechnoloy, MTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering and Educational Technology and BTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, through customised curriculum aligned to the industry needs.

It was set up at Neemrana in Rajasthan to address the growing need to have industry ready engineering students.

"In the first year, the university could accommodate around 450 students," NIIT Ltd Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of NIIT University Rajendra S Pawar told PTI adding the university is designed to shape careers for tomorrow's knowledge economy.

Students would be selected based on the marks secured by them in standard 10 and plus two examinations. However, the MTech candidates would be screened by the advisory board.

The details about the course fee and course structure are still being worked on and it would be available by May-end, he added.

The university would also encourage research. Each programme includes at least one research project aimed at providing sufficient exposure.
