Is Windows 7 suitable for 6GB RAM ?
Can now on my new pc and in this connection, I must get an operating system. The setup for the PC are as follows:
CPU: Intel i7 920
RAM: 6GB
Graphics: HD 4870
I wonder, therefore, which operating system I should choose. I already have an Windows XP that I can use, but then I just did not utilize more than 4GB, or so? I have also seen some on Windows 7, it is so that I can download this and use it? Intend to use the PC for gaming and photo editing.
Re: Is Windows 7 suitable for 6GB RAM ?
Windows XP 32 bit support max 3.15 GB (or so) of RAM, if you've 64bit version so you get full benefit of your 6GB. But I doubt that you will find drivers. I have even purchased a new computer now that is upgraded with new motherboards, video cards, memory, etc same processor as you. But can not find drivers for 64 bit XP.
Have tested Vista before and it is NOT the voice. Have tried Windows 7, but it was not a finished product, but it looks promising better than vista at least. But then I get to XP all the work and taught me a lesson at least through time.
Re: Is Windows 7 suitable for 6GB RAM ?
You should use Windows Vista 64-bit. Or Windows 7 64-bit. Because you have 6GB of ram and need a 64-bit OS. You should go for Vista or Win 7 because DX10 support.

Looking out that I end up with vista 64-bit. Like it not, but is pretty have to have someone who supports the framework and dx10.
Thanks for all replies!
