Hey guys!
I have seen people networking at 1GBPS. My friend has two computers at his place and so do i...! But when i connect the two computers directly to each other with a cross over cable i get connected only at 100Mbps where as my friend gets connected at 1Gbps between his two computers...! I've seen the speed of his network... It is terrific... Can anyone help me out with that?

did you check your cable? For connecting at 1Gbps you need CAT 5e cable and not CAT 5...! You using 2-pair crossover or 4-Pair? crossover cable? Try to switch the cable type...! Might help you..!

I tried that two! I brought the cable he is using but nothing worked...! It would connect at 100Mbps no matter what i do...! Any work around to this? Well if i use a switch then what else would i need? help guys! Or any other way? I even tried updating the device drivers...! But that didn't help me too..!:no:

Advice: 1) Half knowledge is harmful. 2) Google is your friend.
Well to get your network work at 1Gbps you need a gigabit port Lan card or a Lan card capable of connecting at 1 Gbps... You cannot increase its speed by software if its hardware has no support for it...! Check on the net for your LAN card and check if it has 1 Gbps port...! I guess this is the only issue you are facing...! All the best...!
