Potential material problem on P5Q-E in Linux

Is there are those among you who have already experienced compatibility issues with the motherboard P5Q-E with Ubuntu, Mandriva or OpenSuse, once installed?

I heard (on the Ubuntu site. Com) he has some problems with this motherboard under linux (IDE controller, SATA, USB, ethernet).

I have in my config a map (from ASUS) ATI Radeon EAH3450 Series, did you encounter problems with ATI drivers on the latest stable versions (ubuntu 8.04, mandriva 2008)?

I have not tried it with opensuse 10.3 or 11.0. However, I just tried Mandriva 2008 Live CD mode and after a few minutes, I lose the use of my USB mouse (microsoft) and my USB keyboard (Benq). Not practical to require a hard reset to reboot.

It made me the same thing with Ubuntu 8.04. These are the stable versions. Problem drivers / detection of USB ports?

I thought a dual-boot XP / Linux, but I am afraid of losing the mouse and keyboard after installation.

After much problems with installation, I finally got: D to install my Mandriva Linux 2008.1 One Gnome on my PC in dualboot with Win XP Pro. For your info, my motherboard is a P5Q-E.

The installation was done on a 80GB HDD WD SATA2 like this:

sda1 = = 25GB Win XP (only 6GB are busy: o)
15GB = sda5 = /
sda6 = = 512MB Linux Swap (it is not sda6, but good)
sda7 = rest = / home

So that it works without problems I had to do 3 things:

1 - Setting up the bios so that the HDDs are in AHCI, not IDE (as is the case by default). Otherwise the SATA HDD is not recognized with the live cd, so installation impossible. As against the controllers can be recognized.

2 - When you start on the live cd of Mandriva, to F4 (Other options) and choose "apci = off". This allows me to not lose my mouse and my USB keyboard while using the live cd. Without this option, I am not going away.

3 - Towards the end of the Mandriva installation, a window appears for installing Grub. Make sure the box "enable acpi" unchecked because there will be a guaranteed crash on reboot (in my case, I know).

After installation, I was able to make updates (252 total: D) and install my favorite apps. Now I go more in depth the operation and ownership (OUT habits windowsiennes).

So far, I have not had any problems with my graphics card from ATI Radeon ASUS EAH3450 Series, I have a good screen resolution. However, I have some questions I'll post a new post.
