Suddenly HDD disappears on ASUS P5K
I have connected 4 HDD on a ASUS P5K motherboard and 2 weeks since I have a HDD Hitachi disappears from Windows. The manager tells me error:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0
The device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 is not ready for access.
The launch of the utility Seatools sometimes the HDD to repair takes hours. The diag Seatools (because the system contains 2 Seagate HDD) on the Hitachi HDD is OK, no problems on the HDD.
Do I suspect the SATA controller in the motherboard?
In fact, you know how the devices are numbered in \devices and therefore what are the 2 devices described above?
Re: Suddenly HDD disappears on ASUS P5K
We talk about 4 sata hdd? have you checked the cables? and switch ports (use JMicron)?
which mode you're in? IDE, AHCI, RAID?
Re: Suddenly HDD disappears on ASUS P5K
Yes 4 SATA HDD in effect, a connector for the motherboard. I changed the cable of the disc, but it is the same. I am in IDE mode (I think it was the only choice given in the BIOS)
I will try to use the JMicron SATA port to see.
Re: Suddenly HDD disappears on ASUS P5K
OK.
If you have the courage you can also switch to AHCI in bios but not windows boot more, look for tutorials on Google to find ways to driver install AHCI after installing windows. (or when you put the windows on the JMicron temporarily after you install JMicron driver)
Re: Suddenly HDD disappears on ASUS P5K
Apparently the driver for the JMicron chip is installed on my windows, so I'll try to put the HDD "default" on the SATA connector Jmicron. HDD is a data therefore, it does not. I would see if turnover generated errors and windows boot as slowly than before. Right now, the HDD is disconnected from the motherboard (SATA2 connector) and the system works very well.
In fact, I just read that only SATA1 and SATA2 connectors should welcome with the HDD boot sector, this is good for me because the MBR is on the HDD connected to SATA1.
