Counter Strike 1.6 won't work in Windows 7 64-bit

2 files are not working

100% ok:

1. Right-click the shortcut or game exe (cstrike.exe) file.
2. Select "Properties" from the menu
3. In "Target" textbox, add "-32bpp" (without quote).

the game opens properly but wen i press start button, the game exits n shows a error msg "unable to load authentication library"... do someone help me fix the problem

I Just wanted to know if you are having any plugins or addon installed like metamod, if yes then disable it and see if ti is making any difference or not, i remember one guy having the same issue after installing metamod but then later removing the same from the addons folder in cstrike he was able to get rid of the same error and the game was working fine

tried all
nothing works i finally gave up on this game and just deleted it
windows 7 64bit sucks for every game i tried to play

Well, did you try to download this file - http://forums.techarena.in/attachmen...572-hw.rar.att

You have to replace this files in your existing Counter Strike folder and see if that works for you.

Counter Strike>Properties>Target: C:\Games\CounterStrike...etc on the end (SPACE) -d3d !! apply
