Position of discs on a IDE cable
hello experts
I went searching on the net and as I have often found conflicting info ...
here is my question ...
if 2 drives are on the same IDE cable (master / slave) is that:
- The transfer rate is faster than 2 IDE cable different? (I read)
- The transfer rate is slower than on 2 different IDE cable? (I read too)
thank you in advance for your clarification of experts
but the course is to optimize the connection of my disks in a machine.
I wish to clarify that in my example, all disks have the same interface (say pATA133) and there was no ATAPI (CD-DVD-CDRW-DVDRW) that would slow down all ...
thank you in advance
Re: Position of discs on a IDE cable
It seems to me that a disk controller should be faster ...
Where there are two, I imagine that there must be a token for access to reading and writing ... They can not use the both at the same time any way ...
I had my time (when I understand the IDE) I was told that to optimize buffers prints they had put the sources on a controller (SD DVD) and the exit on the other (recorder cd, dvd)
Re: Position of discs on a IDE cable
hi
As a general rule, you should never mix the optical drive and Hd
ideal connection (but I can tell you nothing new) is the master at the end of the tablecloth and slave in the middle with the blue side of the water in the port of the cm
and I do not think we have a gain when you "mix" the water, quite the contrary

So in this case (2HDD, no optical drive) you recommend removing the 2 drives on 2 different layers?

Re: Position of discs on a IDE cable
In principle it installs mat in a hard drive is a master drive (DVD burner ect ..) As Slave The hard disk is installed or the OS must be installed on the primary graphics card.
Hoping to have answered your question
