Re: Overclock AMD Phenom 9500
I seriously don't think too many people know the specifics of overclocking the Phenom. I would suggest reading some of the sticky threads in the AMD section
also i would recommend downloading amd overdrive. a nice utility similar to cpuz that will also stress test and benchmark your cpu
Re: Overclock AMD Phenom 9500
Will do later, overclocking atm. The BIOS is a little more advanced than I've seen before with loads of new options, I will continue uping the CPU Frequency to see what it can go to, how can I check the speed of the processor in Windows Vista?
Re: Overclock AMD Phenom 9500
Currently at 3200mhz priming
Vcore is at 1.425V in bios 1.450 real (mainboard adds more voltage)
Its a nice upgrade from a Dud FX62 which wouldnt clock more then 3ghz
3ghz with only 1.45? thats pretty good not even those newer chips with the tlb error fixed hit 3 with that low voltage. Are you using overdrive or just bios?
Re: Overclock AMD Phenom 9500
Whats the 9500 default clock? The 9500 is only 85Watt? the 9700 is 125Watt so you get a better OC (The 9700 was pulled due to problems though).
AMDs don't need a massive cache since the memory controller is on the die. There will be little performance gain if they implemented one. Its a design flaw from what I have heard.
Phenom only has 2mb of L3 cache for all 4 cores, it's not enough, it would benefit from having more cache. Intel's Nehalem is going to have an IMC plus a huge cache.
