From 3.0 GHz to 3.4-3.5 GHz

Now I go up from 2.4 GHz to 3.0 GHz on my Q6600, and seeing no stability problems, probably because I have a new, more cooling cabinet and a decent noctua cpu cooler.

Now I would like to see if I can sqeeze a 400-500 MHz more out of the process the offender, but with the settings ..? Do I have to invest in some faster RAM ..? (running with PC2-5300)

Someone who has some suggestions, would like to have precise knowledge, about vcore, volts, and other settings ?

(Must say, my PC became unstable at 3.2 GHz, so do not really know how longer can I get.)

It is undoubtedly your RAM is limiting you. They usually run 1:1 with the CPU at 266MHz (FSB1066 Quad pumped) at 3GHz FSB 333MHz, so save all running somewhat faster than they are intended. Want to up just 3400MHz ram must run at least 378MHz, they can probably not, is not sure what brand it is.

The best solution is to buy some faster RAM, PC2-6400 (400Mhz) is enough to run the 3.4 to 3.6, it costs nothing nowadays.

The alternative is to persuade volts for the RAM you have now, and to compromise on timing.

Edit: Oops, PC2-5300 is DDR667, and runs at 333MHz stock, not the 266. You should could get them to run at 400Mhz with the correct amount of volts and patience! My mistake, I thought of DDR553.

Okay, you write with the right amount of volts and patience. How do I make more accurate? Can not get the multiplier x9 that would otherwise remove the RAM problem.

You can not, not with the CPU.
You can start by putting FSB for eg. 360MHz. This provides a CPU frequency of 3240MHz. Then run a RAM stress test (blend test in Prime95) and possibly Memtest86 or the like.

If everything runs as it should, continue in their own speed, whether you want to move forward in increments of 1MHz at a time (good fun :ohyeah: ) Or whether you want to jump to 400 with the same is up to yourself. But if it becomes unstable, I suggest you loose the timing (running the room. 5-5-5-15 at 333MHz, try 6-6-6-18 at 400), and raise vDimm 0.1-0.4 volts it might help. If not, try to give the CPU a bit more vCore, would not go over 1.6 for everyday, 1.5 is enough sweet spot.

Said, I believe anything? Can you be more specific? Have not had enough to do with your OC doing, 355 is only 22MHz more than stock, it can clear all RAM sticks.

There was a blue screen appears, it went extremely fast, failed to record what was written, after which the PC freezed.
BTW, does the RAM timing make computer slower?
