Software changing external hard drive to usb flash drive
Hi,
I have just stumbled upon this site and have a question I hope can be answered.
Is there any software available (or other means) that will make my Seagate FreeAgent Desktop external hard drive appear to be a USB flash drive for my Philips DVDR5500 DVD recorder.
The DVD recorder has a USB point and accepts flash drives so I want the hard drive to simulate being a flash drive.
Is this possible?
Many thanks to anyone who offers any advice.

It would depend greatly on how Phillips implemented the port. Typically, a flash drive is a few GB's whereas a hard drive is significantly larger. If you have an external USB hard drive, you can plug it in and see if it recognizes all (or some) of your files.
If the USB port is version 1.1 or earlier, the video/audio could be very choppy. USB 2.0 devices should run fine.

Some Usb devices only work properly on Usb 2 format, so maybe that is why you are having problems, is there a way you could update your Usb ports/hub to USB2 format?
