Opening IBM Aptiva tower Model
hello to all
I belong to an association law 1901 we have a library and we would like to open a library for young people. We need the old PC and try to give them a second life. It happens that I have to recover a PC IBM Aptiva . I must mount a PCI card for Internet ADSL. The problem is the following: HOW TO OPEN THE IBM case . There must be a trick but I have nothing to follow and screw anything. I thank in advance those who can give me a way to open this all. Indication. It is a model with a hollow handle raised by the PC. Regard to all
Re: Opening IBM Aptiva tower Model
If you have a 2140, you can go ahead and skip this part. If not, the next step is to turn your 2142 into a 2140 by modifying the case and removing the drives from the media console.
- Turn off your computer and disconnect all cables from the back of the tower and media console.
- Remove the rear panel of the media console by sliding it straight back.
- Disconnect all cables from the board.
- Remove the two side "wing covers" by sliding them out to either side.
- If not already, pop the media console up so that the drives are exposed.
- Continue to lift the console straight up and it should be free of the console base.
- On the bottom of the console are the screws that fasten to the drives. Remove them.
- Extract the drives from the console and put them aside with all the screws.
Re: Opening IBM Aptiva tower Model
Hello , do a google search for the system model number and see if IBM has the users manual for it. that will tell you how to open the case for such things as installing ram and drives and such.
