Can't change my display name in WLM

Hi all,
I use Windows Live Messenger 8. I cannot change my display name using setting option in wlm. Can anybody tell me whats wrong and how to change it?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Try to delete following folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger

Download and reinstall windows live messenger. Then open messenger => Click Tools =>Go to Options =>General => and Enable the option "show always the same display picture and personal message each time I sign in"

Check for updates and scan your system with good antivirus. Then in windows live messenger go to File ->Verify. After your Messager ID has been verified and after you have go further to confirm the verification. You need to sign out of your windows live Messenger, then sign in again. Then you can change your display name.
