Is this hardware for a Home Server
I would like to see for a private homepage with a few pictures a small low-power server build.
According to Google, it is a board with AMD Geode CS5530A and a Cyrix Media GX 1 CPU with 300MHz. Plus a 128Mb memory PC133. (Possessions, but still a 256 and 512Mb memory) Is this hardware from a private homepage with Linux system to run?
As an Internet connection I have an ADSL router with 6400/640 (kbps) downstream / upload .
Can I, if possible, someone with a data sheet of the board provide connections? Weiss until now where the only two IDE connectors are.
AMD Geode Northbrith
Cyrix 300MHz CPU
512Mb Ram
Slim CD or DVD drive
30 or more GB of hard disk
And Linux OS
(All hardware would have been in my storage place.)
Re: Is this hardware for a Home Server
If you are due to the tinkering to do, then a lot of fun (if the correct data I've link
ftp://data.aaeon.com.tw/DOWNLOAD/200.../Gene-4312.pdf
There is still some information (drivers, BIOS, Manuals ...)
Otherwise, I can only advise you. The expense is not proportionate to the benefit of a little Webspeicher to have!
Webspeicher is a yes in every corner
Re: Is this hardware for a Home Server
I will be there only as a test whether it works and how well it works. DIY is my hobby
I know it more than 256Mb RAM can hold. Perhaps, but even 512Mb which of course is bet
But is that enough in general for a server of a website that has?
Re: Is this hardware for a Home Server
That's pretty much on the operating system that you want it!
A Debian without Klickibunti "runs on pretty much everything :thumbup1:
Re: Is this hardware for a Home Server
Ok thanks, now have a second Linux for a server. Which is better?
