uTorrent makes Internet down !
Hello,
Whenever i starts downloads with utorrent, it sucks my internet connection, i cannot surf anything i have to wait until the downloads completes and then i have to restart my pc and sometimes router to surf with internet, it makes my connection completely down. I have a standard cable internet connection, which gives me download speed of around 100 kbps(i know its fast), but then why i can't surf at all?
How to fix this problem?
Hoping some helping suggestions , Thank you in advance.
Re: uTorrent makes Internet down !
I run Utorrent also, and what I've found is that if I throttle it back to 100kbps down and 30kbps up, it runs stable. Utorrent is a hog on resources any way you shape it.
Re: uTorrent makes Internet down !
If you have to reset your router I think that's a pretty clear indication that the router overheated/barfed/crapped out/froze up. Does disabling DHT and / or lowering connections and active torrents help this in any way? What router are you using ?
Re: uTorrent makes Internet down !
Follow the following actions listed on utorrent official site:
- Ran the Speed Guide (Ctrl+G in µTorrent) properly?
- Disabled IP resolving in the Peers tab?
- Restarted µTorrent after disabling DHT?
- Try disabling UPnP?
- What firewall are you using, and have you tried uninstalling it?
- Tried lowering the global maximum number of connections to 200? 100? 50?
- Lowering net.max_halfopen to 4?
- Patched TCPIP.SYS and restarted the computer after patching (this assumes you run Windows XP w/SP2!)?
- Restarted the router after doing any of the above?
- Connect directly to the modem to make sure it's not your router?
- If turns out that it's not the router, what modem are you using?
