How to connect your PC to a Full HD TV
To look on your new high definition TV pictures or movies stored on the computer, you must first connect the two devices. But beware: if you choose the connection S-Video, VGA, DVI or HDMI, the quality will suffer. If you can, opt for a digital signal (HDMI and DVI-I/D).
In case your PC has only one analog output (VGA, S-Video, DVI-A), be aware that most HDTVs handle this type of connection, but these connectors which transmits the video, you must, in addition, connect your appliances by an audio cable to get sound.
For digital, if your video card sends a signal I or DVI-D, you can use this output with a DVI or HDMI cable through a DVI / HDMI. Again, you'll need an additional audio cable, since only the video signal is transmitted. Finally, if you are lucky enough to have an HDMI, forget the second cable! This prize carries both the audio and video. It remains to choose the HDMI cable.
Choose the type A, enough to display 1080p Full HD TVs. Finally, remember that for digital connections, the problem of HDCP protection arises: to read a Blu-ray DVD protected, your video card and the TV must be HDCP components. Make an analog connection
Once the connections made, open the Control Panel and double-click Control Panel Nvidia. Click Configure multiple displays and select the Clone mode for the TV displays the same as the computer. If your TV is not detected, turn it on and restart the PC. Go here and click the My display is not listed. In the dialog box, click Advanced Detection displays. If TV is not detected, a message will allow you to activate the connection to the TV, click Yes and restart the PC. The TV display should work.
Get the beep
Connect the audio cable to the SPDIF output or (as the cable you have) of your audio card. Right-click the volume icon in the notification bar and select Windows Device reading. In the window that opens, select the output line and click the default button. Restart the software used to take into account this change.
Switch to all-digital with HDMI
As soon as you connect PC and TV, a new window appears. Select the display type to apply: mirror, or extended display only on external display. Check Enable presentation settings if you want to disable the screen saver and automatic shut down (for laptops).
Pal or NTSC? 720P or 1080I?
To change the message from your PC, go to the Change signal or HD format driver for your card (See Make an analog connection). Select the type of connector you use, then click the signal format that matches your TV. Click the Apply button to see the result and save the settings.
