Hi,
I am using IIS 7 on Vista Ultimate and trying to set up SSL to secure Virtual server 2007 R2.The problem is that i can not access to the web server of my computer from other computer which is lan.I have selected 'Run as Administrator' on the right-click menu when opening IIS 7, and the options are just the same.i can't see the "edit permission" option.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.
Re: Can't edit permissions on IIS 7
hi,
You may check the bindings of the second site. If it is not bind to port 80, you must include the port number in URL. If the bindings are correct and this problem remains, can you share the error message in IE (with friendly error page turned off in Internet Options|Advanced)?
Re: Can't edit permissions on IIS 7
Sounds like the web site permissions (in IIS) are set to either
- Windows Auth: And you are logging in with someone who has permissions to those folders
or
- Anonymous Auth: And the account that is being used for impersonation has permissions
Best practice would be to make sure the account which is being used to access the site (i.e. if windows auth - your account or if anonymous then the account which is impersonated) does not have permissions on the folders.
Re: Can't edit permissions on IIS 7
How are you accessing it IP or via host headers/bindings?
It looks like the request isn't even getting to the IIS server. CHeck to see if you can ping and nslookup the hostheader/bindings.
Re: Can't edit permissions on IIS 7
Go into IIS config and make sure you allow access from all ip addresses. If it is configured to allow all ip addresses, make sure the Internet Guest Account (IUSR_SERVERNAME) has READ ONLY permissions to all files that you want to be available on the outside world.
