To play a timed sequence of sound files in iPhone ?
I need to play a timed sequence of sound files, meaning one file after another (potentially overlapping) with a predefined amount of time between each file, in the background of my application. How can I perform this feature in my new Apple's iPhone ?

In order to play a timed sequence of sound files in your iPhone, I would suggest you for SynthPond.
SynthPond is one of my favorite iPhone applications, by far.
It provides a blank canvas for sound experimentation, accessed using cell/planet-esque components with individual parameters set by the user or at random.
The 3D audio output from the app is quite interesting, very often soothing. I still find myself experimenting with groups of orbitting 'reactors' which can be surprisingly fun.

Have you seen the Bubble Level sample code?
In there they define 3 sound files and then just call the "play" function on each when you needed.
I am not sure if it will suit your needs but atleast worth checking out....

The creater of SynthPond, ZachGage writes -
synthPond is a music / art piece that I made for the iphone. It's a spatial synthesizer, and it's in the vein of toshio iwai's stuff... theres a free lite version that i think is pretty full featured, and there's upcoming OSC support that will work with any osc device.
