I bought a laptop and I install Windows Live Messenger 2009
but the cam does not work with anyone
but the log tells me that IM is not available
or that I'm using it with another program and so can not connect

Cannot save the sasets.ini file after editing.
Im only 13 but yes i thought i'd give you the advice because it worked on mine...
I was given a sony vaio for my birthday and the webcam didnt work so i typed in the error code and this came up so i followed what it said to do.
But like some people have said it wouldnt save, in the same file sasets is in if you scroll down to the bottom it says uninstall mcafee so i did that and now the webcam works... Now i have norton protection and that works fine!
Dont bother if you dont want to pay for norton or if not you could just get AVG for free.

If you cannot save the file after you make the changes, you should try to restart your computer, start in safe mode and try again to make the changes.
I had this problem while trying you use my webcam, and the probblem which was cosing the error was that I was using my webcam on Dell Webcam Central, and as soon as I closed it the error was gone, so just check if any open software that may cuse the error.
