PC booting on wrong partition
Hello,
I installed XP on one partition and only the beginning of another installation of XP on another partition (hard drive replacement HS).
At ignition the computer boots from the partition including only the beginning of the XP installation ask for the details. I hope it starts on the partition containing the full installation of XP. Why do I choose the boot partition with the arrow keys. I hope I am clear
By "Start / Run / c:\boot. Ini" it gives me the following:
Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
For my part I think it should be:
Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /fastdetect
I am not absolutely sure.
I'm hoping some advice. thank you
Re: PC booting on wrong partition
good evening,
"noexecute = OptIn" should be deleted.
Your boot should be like this:
Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Re: PC booting on wrong partition
Good evening,
You're right but I think there has been a problem of copy / paste
Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=1
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
Re: PC booting on wrong partition
Hello,
For info, the order of the last 2 parameters is not important ... like the capital letters (tested and verified)
the timeout to 30 is the default.
