Convert Sleep Button in Shutdown button In Vista
Hi friends. i am a Vista user. I want to convert my start menu sleep button as shutdown button. I don't want it to go to sleep. I want it to shut down! But that requires an annoying extra step: I have to mouse over to another menu and choose Shut Down from a list of half a dozen options. Please help...
Re: Convert Sleep Button in Shutdown button In Vista
By default, the 'Power' button on the Start Menu is set as 'Sleep' button. This is really annoying, if you have migrated from XP for obvious reason. You can change this 'Sleep' button as 'Shutdown' in few steps.Follow this:-
1.Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
2.Click on 'Change when the computer sleeps'.
3.Select 'Change Advanced Power Settings'.
4.Scroll down the list in the menu till you find a option named ' Power Buttons and lid'. Expand the tree and expand 'Start menu power button'.
5.Change 'Sleep' to 'Shutdown'
6.Press Apply and then OK.

Re: Convert Sleep Button in Shutdown button In Vista
Wow, could Microsoft have buried that setting any deeper? Thankfully, Windows 7 makes it much easier to reprogram this button's function. Now if we could just get an honest-to-goodness Shut Down button that doesn't require a visit to the Start menu, we'd really be making progress.
