Why not update to 7057? Is probably more stable than in 7048.
Avira AntiVir Personal is good and free antivirus.
PCTools has a stand-alone firewall, PCTools Firewall Plus.
CIS works in Vista compatibility mode. If you want to have firewall and AV in the same program.
Do you have lower standards, you can use the Windows firewall, if you enable the control of outgoing traffic. In combination with the UAC and example Avira, you are probably pretty sure. :)
I use ESET Smart Security in W7 7057.
I have now switched to 7057 from 7048. I can only say that the 7057 handles F-Secure and windows firewall much better than in 7048. Everything worked for a minute to secure 10-15 minutes before. 7057 connect to my wireless much faster too. Everything seems to get better and better with each new build (as appropriate).
I have also installed build 7057 and continue to use AVG Free 8.0. Work great. Let Windows take care of the firewall right now, but they also have Zone Labs free ZoneAlarm firewall on standby.
I would prefer you to go with Symantec because it offers Norton 360 3.0 Beta which works on the Windows 7 Beta.
